Project Overview

In June 2022, I worked on my first Shopify construction project, building an e-commerce website for Minami no Kajitsuen, a company that sells mangoes directly delivered from farmers.

Project highlights

While typical online shops tend to focus on product photos, this site emphasizes building trust with customers by putting the photos and stories of the producers at the forefront.

[Key points taken into consideration when creating the website]

  1. Efforts to convey the appeal of producers I personally conducted on-site interviews and took photos of the farms and producers. By carefully introducing their commitment and passion for cultivation, I was able to more effectively convey the value of their products. By seeing the actual farm situation with my own eyes and taking photos, I was able to create more persuasive content.
  2. Clear expression of product value The quality ranks of mangoes are clearly expressed with photographs and descriptions. The characteristics of each rank, such as size, sugar content, and appearance, are explained in detail, and the basis for price differences is made clear.
  3. Original photos for increased appeal Most of the photos used on the site were taken by me during on-site interviews. By showing the actual farm conditions and the expressions of the producers, we were able to increase the credibility and appeal of the site.

[Technical features]

We customized the necessary functions and design based on the basic Shopify theme. We also created a "Past Customer Testimonials page" to help increase purchasing motivation and create a sense of security for new customers.

[Results after release]

The mango harvest and sales period is only two months, from July to August, but we receive dozens of advance orders every year from early spring.

We are very pleased that direct sales through the website have helped farmers improve their profits. The direct sales system, which keeps intermediate costs down, has resulted in benefits for both producers and consumers.

summary

It is important for online shops selling agricultural products to properly communicate the producers' passion and the value of their products. We hope that Minami-no-Kajitsu-en's case study will serve as a useful reference for a successful example of how they have achieved this.

postscript

The first view of the current site features a family photo taken by the mango farmer's eldest son.
The lovely photos convey the warmth of a family-run business and add to the site's appeal.

Above all, Minami no Kajitsuen's mangoes are packed with flavor and are truly delicious, so they are a product that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Please try it once.
